Crash Bandicoot 4 Is Coming!

Today, Activision announced Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, and the first thing to note: the ps2 era sequels appear to have been quietly swept under the rug.

Crash 4 is going to be a direct sequel to Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped, which came out in 1998. Let that sink in for a second. It’s been 22 years since Crash Bandicoot 3.

In Crash 4 you’ll be able to play as Crash, Coco and Cortex. Crash and Coco are interchangeable, with the same move set, Cortex becomes available at some point later in the game. There are 4 quantum masks scattered across the game. The two revealed so far are the time mask and the gravity mask. The time mask lets you slow down time and the gravity mask lets you flip gravity so you can walk on the ceiling. Simple really.

There’s a new art style, which is sure to divide fans of the game, with the official blurb saying:

“Toys for Bob is excited to introduce a fresh visual direction for Crash that maintains the zany spirit of the franchise while also breathing unique personality and charm into it. Fans can expect wacky new worlds, lush epic vistas and an absurd variety of enemies and hazards.”

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time is out on October 2nd 2020 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Nothing has been said about a release for the Nintendo Switch.
